Church School

Welcome to St. Peter’s Church School

At St. Peter’s our children are educated in the knowledge of Holy Scripture and the sacred tradition of the Anglican Church in Sunday School and Confirmation Class.  Our curriculum, the American Church Union Church School Series, published under the direction of the Anglican Province of Christ the King, uses the Holy Bible and the 1928 Book of Common Prayer, and teaches both a sacramental and a scriptural approach to our Christian faith.

Sunday School classes are held at 10:00 am in our beautiful, sunny classroom.  Children, ages three and older, study together in a family atmosphere.  Lessons are designed for all ages so that the younger ones are able to participate, while the older ones are challenged to learn on a deeper level.  The children engage in a variety of age appropriate activities, such as art, crafts, cooking, music, puzzles, games and dramatic play that re-enforce the study materials.

We follow the seasons of the Church Year:

The children tell the story of the Incarnation in the Christmas Pageant, complete with costumes and carols.

On Palm Sunday, we lead the congregation in the traditional procession around the church, waving our palms.  On Easter Sunday we decorate a large white cross with flowers as part of the festive Easter Liturgy.

In addition, the children work on projects that benefit the parish and the larger community.

Children ten and older may prepare for confirmation by attending our Confirmation Class, which uses uses The Anglican Confirmation Manual and refers to the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.  After they are confirmed, students may sit with their parents during Mass or return to the Sunday School classroom.

St. Peter’s also provides a comfortable nursery for children under three, staffed during Sunday services and major festivals.

We are a family parish, and we enjoy taking part in outings and activities together, including everyone from age two to ninety-two, babies to great grandparents.  We believe in learning from each other, as God speaks to us through the generations.

Come and join us celebrate the love of God with our children!
